HarbourVest appoints John Toomey as sole CEO

Global private markets asset manager HarbourVest Partners has appointed John Toomey as the firm’s sole Chief Executive Officer effective 1 October 2024, following news that Co-CEO Pete Wilson is to retire at the end of next year.

Toomey and Wilson have been part of the firm’s Executive Management Committee (EMC), which collectively serves as CEO, for more than a decade.

HarbourVest has been headquartered in Boston, MA for more than 40 years. The firm employs over 1200 employees globally across 13 offices. In mid-2025, the firm will move into its new headquarters at One Lincoln Street in Boston.
